Retail media goes in-store, regional
Retail media is expanding beyond marketplaces. The latest example comes from Walmart Connect’s beta test of two new in-store placements. Suppliers will have opportunities to integrate product demos into their campaigns, and advertise on Walmart’s in-store radio network.
Sellers that use Amazon Pay can now automatically add Buy Now Pay Later services at checkout for purchases over $50 starting at 0% APR. This means Affirm won’t have to be integrated separately. The move expands a partnership between Affirm and Amazon that began in 2021. – TechCrunch
In this week’s hiring update, leadership is changing at GameStop, Sorel and Beautycounter. Meanwhile, key executives are departing at Amazon, Wayfair and Lovesac.
Mid-Atlantic and midwestern grocer Giant Eagle is rolling out Leap, an in-house retail media network that uses loyalty data to reach more than 14 million consumers. Ad offerings include in-store, out-of-home, social, influencer content, traditional and connected TV. It’s a sign that regional retailers see opportunity in retail media, and are empowered to stand up networks without the help of a technology partner. – Progressive Grocer
A leading marketplace is teaming with a national accelerator leader to launch Techstars Future of Ecommerce powered by eBay. The 13-week program will support startups that set out "to make selling and buying more equitable, attainable and sustainable.” Apply by July 5.
