QuickBooks launches marketplace, DoorDash delivers for Facebook

In what the Wall Street Journal described as an “early” pilot, DoorDash is helping to add a delivery service to Facebook Marketplace by ferrying goods that can fit in the trunk of a car. It underscores how Marketplace remains a popular Facebook feature, especially among young people.

Alongside its accounting tools, QuickBooks is adding a B2B ecommerce marketplace that’s designed to connect suppliers with retailers who are on the lookout for new indie products to sell in their stores. For QuickBooks, Trada is one step on a journey toward becoming a place where businesses not only manage their own operations, but also connect with others and find customers.

Initially announced in June, this month brought the debut of Google’s new all-in-one tag for ads and analytics. Practical Ecommerce outlines how the search giant intends this update to “future-proof privacy concerns” and introduce codeless features.

The number of Walmart.com customers who are members of the retailer’s subscription program has yet to grow in 2022, according to Consumer Intelligence Research Partners. While Walmart has added new perks to the program this year such as deeper fuel discounts and members-only events, these may be more likely to drive retention than signups.

Retail is the focus of this week’s economic data and earnings reporting, with total consumer sales for July set to be released and quarterly updates on the schedule from Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowe’s and more. On Thursday, we’ll get total ecommerce sales for the second quarter, offering a look at progress toward the $1 trillion milestone that many are predicting to arrive this year.
