Is inflation really cooling?
The Consumer Price Index showed inflation slowed to 7.7% growth in October, surprising economists and marking the first reading below 8% in months. But beware the year-over-year comparison: The data is beginning to lap the period where inflation began its upward march. The two-year inflation rate was still increasing in October, and the Fed isn’t signaling a plan to stop rate hikes anytime soon.
