Is eBay the next advertising giant?
eBay is the latest platform to see fast advertising growth amid the rise of retail media. The marketplace’s advertising business is now 1.8% of GMV, and executives see a path to get to 3%. The growth is also being driven by shifts in how the platform presents ads. Promoted listings is eBay’s most popular ad product, as legacy display ads now have less importance.
Inflation may be starting to cool off in general, but the cost of food remains high, with inflation still at a whopping 11.3%. That has been true for months, and it is leading consumers to cut back on clothing, home goods and toys. IGA and Ideal teamed up to launch a retail media network that will pull together data from thousands of stores.
