Early sales are upending online holiday shopping
Welcome to the holiday shopping season. Amazon’s Prime Early Access Sale begins this morning, while Target said this week that it will start Black Friday deals three weeks early. It highlights how holiday shopping is going to be upended this year. Adobe expects the $209.7 billion in online sales it projects from Nov. 1-Dec. 31 to be affected by these October deal events, eating into sales that would’ve happened on Cyber Monday.
Economic uncertainty is also a key theme of this year's holiday season. In a sign from the carrier community, Supply Chain Dive reports that FedEx Ground is citing a “fluid and challenging economic environment” as it gets set to release downward adjustments to its projections for the rest of the year later this month.
In this week’s look at ecommerce M&A and venture capital news, companies are raising funds to build an Amazon ecosystem, inclusive beauty brands and pizza robots (with support from Jay-Z). Plus, Walmart is acquiring a fulfillment robotics company.
When it comes to grocery ecommerce, millennials participate in the highest share of any generation, a new study from PYMNTS found. It comes as platforms like Instacart are adding features to appeal to families.
Walmart’s direct-to-fridge delivery service is adding sustainable packaging. InHome is partnering with Loop to create a circular system that operates between brands, Walmart and the customers who receive deliveries.
Tweet of the Day 🐦
Circa 2013 advertisers grappled with mobile first creative, creative optimized for feeds, then video on feeds around 2014.
2022, hear a lot about challenges with TikTok creative, feeling too “performative”, fears of not being “cool enough” etc.
Change is hard but constant.
