What drove Walmart's 27% ecommerce growth
Walmart’s ecommerce growth far outpaced overall sales in the first quarter. Executives credited continued growth of pickup and delivery, as well as expansion of third party sellers on the Walmart marketplace. Retail media spend is expected to continue to grow, as 73% of advertisers anticipate more dollars being directed toward marketplaces in the next 12 months, according to McKinsey. Deals are in focus in an inflationary economy. Meta is meeting the moment with a new ad format test that will allow brands to highlight seasonal sales, first-time purchase discounts and holiday promotions. Select advertisers in the U.S. and UK will have initial access.
