Amazon's analytics tools, Shopify's app store upgrade

Amazon closed out last week’s Accelerate event with news on a handful of new analytics tools that are now available to third-party sellers. This includes the freely available Veeqo shipping software, which the company acquired earlier this year. Now, sellers can use it for rate shopping, and automated tracking emails.

The Shopify marketplace where brands can browse for new store tools is getting an overhaul, according to tweets from company president Harley Finkelstein. Forthcoming upgrades to search, listings and categories are designed to make it easier to discover apps.

Emma Chamberlain built a massive audience on YouTube, then launched her own coffee brand that is becoming a cult favorite in its own right. As the brand enters more retail locations and puts a recent $7M raise to work, it is adopting more tried-and-true CPG tactics, such as seasonal flavors.

Demand for packages fell significantly in the final weeks of the most recent quarter for FedEx, with Asia and Europe in particular slowing down. Seeing a deteriorating macro environment, the shipping company is grounding flights and closing stores. “We are a reflection of everybody else’s business,” CEO Raj Subramaniam told CNBC.

CPG and grocery leaders are gathering in Las Vegas this week, while a few more second quarter earnings reports are set to arrive from consumer companies like Stitch Fix and General Mills. When it comes to the economy, all eyes are on Wednesday’s Fed meeting, which will determine whether interest rates will rise again.
